Darryl G. Lowe first formed the firm that would become Lowe Yeager & Brown in 1985. Steve Yeager joined him in 1988, and Greg Brown in late 2009. In the years since it was founded, the firm’s reputation for providing solid advice and representation to attorneys and law firms, professionals, executives, and public officials has steadily grown as it has continued to add attorneys. The firm has an “AV” rating by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell, and is listed among U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Law Firms.” The firm has offices in Tennessee, Georgia, Washington D.C. and Massachusetts.
STEPHEN E. YEAGER
SENIOR ATTORNEY (1971-2024)
Achieving senior status at the end of 2017, Mr. Yeager is a 1971 cum laude graduate of Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis, Indiana. From 1971 to 1975, Mr. Yeager served as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corp where he prosecuted and defended accused military personnel. Following his discharge from the United States Army, Mr. Yeager joined the law firm of Stuart & Branigin, Lafayette, Indiana, where he served as a partner in the litigation division. Representative clients included Purdue University, the Norfolk & Southern Railroad, and various insurance carriers.
From 1988 through 2017, Mr. Yeager practiced as a partner with the law firm now known as Lowe Yeager & Brown PLLC. He practiced in all courts, state and federal, and has tried many cases to the bench, as well as to juries, representing both individuals and companies.
Mr. Yeager has held appointments with the American Bar Association Federal Evidence Committee and Products Liability Committee. He is also a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Knoxville Bar Association.
DARRYL G. LOWE
SENIOR ATTORNEY (1985-2020)
First licensed in 1974, Mr. Lowe took senior status at the end of 2018, and passed away in August 2020. Mr. Lowe’s practice consisted of civil litigation involving primarily insurance defense at the trial and appellate level. He was licensed in Tennessee and admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. In 1985 he started his own firm, Lowe & Shirley, which was the forerunner of Lowe Yeager & Brown PLLC. His experience included medical malpractice defense, dental malpractice defense, asbestos personal injury property damage defense, and nursing home defense. He tried cases in Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, Texas, and Illinois.
He began representing lawyers in 1984, and from approximately 1994 Mr. Lowe’s practice consisted almost entirely of legal malpractice defense as well as advising and representing lawyers on matters related to the Rules of Professional Conduct. Mr. Lowe was elected by his peers as one of the Best Lawyers in America under the category of Legal Malpractice for many years beginning in 1994. Mr. Lowe also qualified and testified as an expert witness in the field of legal malpractice.
